If you want to send a letter or a fax to Ecuador, you’ve got to know, that not everything is running as well as we are used to in Europe.

• Letter-box, fax and e-mail are in Tena, approx. 1 1/2 hours away from the amaZOOnico
• Every one or two weeks someone is going to Tena, to collect the mail, faxes and email. The trip is costing money, and needs a lot of time. Therefore generally we’re not going to Tena "only" to collect the mail .
• Time until there is a response is often more than a month.
• Power failures are not rare and the fax-paper is often stuck because of the high humidity. Therefore sometimes it needs a lot of patience to send us a fax. And last but not least the received messages are often not readable.
• The post is reliable, but sometimes pretty slow. Normally a letter is taking approx. 10 days.
• E-mail is generally working quite well. The rate data of data-transmission is rather modest with 2400 Baud. We appreciate , if the mails are not bigger than 20kB, and are not used for unnecessary private notes.
