Anacondas are the heaviest and biggest snakes of the world. Males can grow up to 9m (single individuals even longer) and can weigh up to 200kg (!). Mostly they lie hidden in the water or swamp in wait for their prey, attack them quickly, hold them and slay their prey (often under watersurface) until it is dead. Their menu has a good variety, they eat nearly all vertebrates, from fish, reptiles, mammals to birds. Even wildcats, caimans and capybaras are eaten from bigger anacondas. It is said, that childeren have been eaten as well and even adults have been attacked.
The annaconda is found very often as a figure of myths. It is named in fairytales and legends. See Quichas del Oriente
